Routine maintenance and cleaning

How often a villa pool needs servicing

The right frequency depends on the season, how the pool is used and what falls into it. Weekly suits many villa pools; some need more, some less.

In a Dubai summer, warm water, strong sun and frequent swimming use up chlorine quickly and encourage algae, while dust and debris load the filter. Many villa pools need a visit at least weekly in those months. In the cooler months, demand falls and some pools can be looked after less often, provided chlorine is held and the water is checked between visits.

Routine guides describe one part of regular pool care and how to do it properly.

Other factors shift the answer. Pools under palms or trees collect more debris. Heavily used family pools, and pools let to guests, need more attention than ones used at weekends. Automation — salt chlorinators, dosing systems, robotic cleaners — reduces some tasks, but brushing, basket emptying, filter care and an independent water test still need a person.

The short version

  • Summer needs more

Heat, sun and swimming raise chlorine demand and algae risk.

  • Debris and use change it

Trees, dust and busy weekends call for more frequent visits.

  • Automation reduces, not removes, the work

Machines dose and vacuum; people still brush, check and test.

Setting the right frequency

  • Start from the season

More visits in summer, potentially fewer in the cooler months.

  • Adjust for the setting

Tree cover, exposure to wind-blown sand and how sheltered the garden is.

  • Add owner checks

Simple checks between visits — water level, baskets, pressure — let frequency stay lower safely.

Signs the frequency is too low

  1. 01

Water dull before the next visit

Chlorine is running out between visits.

  2. 02

Debris on the floor most days

The cleaning cycle is not keeping up.

  3. 03

Algae in corners or on steps

    Brushing is not frequent enough.

Common questions

Is fortnightly service enough?

For some lightly used pools in cooler months, with owner checks between visits. In summer, often not.

Does a salt pool need fewer visits?

It needs less manual dosing, but brushing, cleaning, balancing and cell care continue.

Can frequency change during the year?

Yes. Many owners move to more frequent visits in summer and fewer in winter.
