Green pool recovery in Dubai

A green pool is a symptom, not just a colour. We clear the algae, restore the water and the filtration, and find the reason it happened — so you are not back in the same place a fortnight later.

Algae-stained tiles and debris on the floor of a neglected pool

In Dubai’s summer heat, a pool can turn from clear to green within days if its sanitiser drops or its circulation slows. A pump timer reset by a power cut, a chlorinator cell scaled up, a holiday without maintenance — the cause is usually simple, but the recovery takes method.

Recovery involves more than adding chlorine. Algae has to be brushed off surfaces, killed, filtered out and vacuumed away, and the filter itself cleaned of what it has caught. Then the water is balanced and the original cause fixed.

How a green pool is recovered

  • Assessment

How green, how long, what equipment is installed, and what changed before the pool turned.

  • Brushing

Thorough brushing of walls, floor, steps and corners to break up algae so treatment can reach it.

  • Treatment

Raising sanitiser to the level needed to kill the algae, with pH corrected first so the treatment works.

  • Filtration

Continuous circulation with repeated filter cleaning or backwashing as dead algae is captured.

  • Vacuuming

Removing settled dead algae from the floor once it has dropped out of suspension.

  • Root cause

Checking timers, chlorinator, pump and filter so the cause is corrected, not just the result.

Why pools turn green

  • Sanitiser ran out

Heat, sunlight and heavy use can consume chlorine faster than it is replaced.

  • Circulation stopped or slowed

A tripped pump, a reset timer or a blocked filter leaves the water still and unfiltered.

  • Stabiliser too high

Stabiliser that builds up over time makes chlorine work more slowly, even when the reading looks acceptable.

  • Phosphates and debris

Leaves, pollen and fertiliser run-off feed algae growth.

Common questions

How long does it take to clear a green pool?

Light green water can often be recovered within a few days; a pool that has been dark green for weeks takes longer, mainly because the filter has to remove a large amount of dead algae.

Do you need to drain a green pool?

Usually not. Most green pools are recovered with the water in place. Draining is considered when the water chemistry cannot be corrected economically.

Can I swim while the pool is being recovered?

No. Sanitiser levels during treatment are higher than normal, and visibility is poor. We will tell you when the water is back in range.

Ask about green pool recovery

Tell us where the pool is, what you are seeing and roughly how big it is. A photograph of the pool and the plant room helps.
