A robotic pool cleaner that is not working properly
Robotic cleaners save hours of vacuuming, but they need looking after too. Most problems come from filters, brushes or the cable.

A robotic cleaner drives itself around the pool, pulling water through an internal filter bag or cartridge and scrubbing with brushes. When it stops climbing walls, wanders in circles or leaves debris behind, the cause is usually ordinary wear: a filter packed with fine dust, brushes worn smooth so they slip on tiles, a twisted cable that pulls it back, or a power supply that is not delivering what the unit needs.
Equipment guides cover servicing and faults on the plant an existing pool already has.
Dubai conditions are hard on these machines. Fine dust clogs filters quickly, and leaving the cleaner in the pool or in direct sun between uses ages plastics and cables. A short routine after each use avoids most failures.
The short version
Clean the filter every time
A clogged filter reduces suction, so the cleaner loses grip and misses debris.
Check brushes and tracks
Worn brushes slip on tiles, especially on walls and steps.
Untangle the cable
A twisted cable shortens the cleaner’s reach and pulls it off course.
Troubleshooting
Power supply
Checking the supply unit, its connections and any fault lights before suspecting the cleaner itself.
Movement
Inspecting tracks, wheels and brushes for wear, splits and debris caught in the drive.
Suction
Cleaning the filter and checking the impeller area for hair and debris.
After each use
Empty and rinse the filter
Before the debris dries into the fabric.
Store it out of the sun
UV and heat age the body, brushes and cable.
Straighten the cable
Lay it out to untwist before the next run.
Common questions
Why will it not climb the walls?
Worn brushes, a clogged filter or a heavy load of debris inside are the usual reasons.
Can it be left in the pool?
It is better removed after each cycle; leaving it in shortens its life.
Does it replace brushing?
Not entirely. Steps, corners and the waterline still need brushing.
